SDSN Kazakhstan contributes to the International Energy Agency's report on clean energy
The SDSN Kazakhstan team of researchers conducted a national case study article entitled “Energy and industrial transitions, and Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund”, specifically exploring approaches to achieve carbon neutrality and decrease emissions in alignment with the Paris Agreement. The report presents 11 new case studies of national experiences with policy development and implementation in support of energy innovation in emerging and developing economies.
| | Network of Academic Societies (NAS) Meeting in Tashkent On October 29, USAID Central Asia’s WAVE Program together with CAREC organized a meeting of the Network of Academic Societies (NAS) to discuss the role of the academic community in promoting water diplomacy, education, and research related to water resource management, energy, and food security. In this regard, Dr. Serik Orazgaliyev, Co-Chair of SDSN Kazakhstan, has highlighted potential partnership opportunities with SDSN Kazakhstan. The network, which currently consists of 25 members, includes universities and research institutions across the country.

On October 23-24, a National Inception Workshop for the Convergence Initiative took place in Astana, Kazakhstan, marking a significant step in aligning food systems transformation with climate action. The Convergence Initiative aims to support national efforts to advance the alignment between the “food systems transformation” and “climate action” agendas to enable governments and relevant actors at the national level to strengthen synergetic action that will simultaneously support the achievement of the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement. | | SDSN Kazakhstan’s SDG Barometer project recognized for outstanding research excellence
The SDSN’s SDG Barometer Project received a certificate of recognition for outstanding excellence in presenting the Best Poster in the research priority of “Socio-Economic Transformation” at the NU Annual Research Conference. The conference judges evaluated the posters along several criteria, including the importance of research, priority, research methods, and impact. Based on judges’ voting, the research team of S. Orazgaliyev, S.Xenarios, A.Shaikenova and N. Kapasheva won the competition for the SDG Barometer research project. | | | | |
