On September 13, Nazarbayev University hosted the Local Youth Conference on Climate Change (LCOY Kazakhstan 2024)! Young leaders, researchers, and experts from across Kazakhstan gathered to discuss the most pressing issues of climate change and sustainable development.
Key topics included climate change in Kazakhstan, water security, and the pivotal role of youth in climate initiatives. Special attention was given to the prospects of green energy implementation and its importance for a sustainable future.
Interactive sessions inspired participants to propose ideas for reducing emissions and adapting to climate change.
One of the main outcomes was a joint statement by Kazakhstan’s youth, which will be presented at COP 29 in Baku. This statement is set to shape future climate solutions and provide actionable recommendations.
LCOY Kazakhstan 2024 has proven to be an important platform for exchanging knowledge and developing strategies to combat climate change.
