ANCHOR SCHOOLS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS RELATED TO NATURAL RESOURCES AND CLIMATE

The objective of the project was to conduct an education-based case study in Central Asia in partnership restoration, natural resource management, and climate change adaptation, with a focus on technology and entrepreneurial spirit in the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan.

The project components were comprised of:
1. ToT workshops from AnchorEd on design-thinking, social entrepreneurship, social impact, climate change, and BUILD methodology.
2. Workshops at the rural village schools of Bestamak in Aktobe region and Orazak in Akmola region among school students of 9-11 grades, to brainstorm ideas for eco-savvy social enterprises.
3. Launchpad conference in Astana. It was the three-day event on "Youth Climate Action for Central Asia: Climate Social Entrepreneurship Launchpad" hosted by Nazarbayev University where 14 selected schools from rural areas received guidance and support in the implementation of their business ideas.
4. ‘Fostering Climate Education and Youth Entrepreneurship in Central Asia: The Path to Climate Resilience ” Stakeholder workshop brought together policy- and decision-makers, educators, researchers, development practitioners, youth, and other stakeholders from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to discuss the education-environment nexus with a goal to generate policy recommendations and implementation roadmaps that would set the stage for youth to create their own climate-resilient future.
