The 1st SDSN Kazakhstan Conference (Opening speech from Dr. Serik Orazgaliyev and Mr. Shigeo Katsu)

On May 30th, 2023, the 1st SDSN Kazakhstan Conference was held at the Graduate School of Public Policy, Nazarbayev University. This one-day conference featured 16 speakers worldwide, including SDSN Global Chair, Professor John Thwaites, as a keynote speaker, and many other attendees who were brought together thanks to their common interest in the development and promotion of the SDGs. The conference themes were designed to address various issues on priority areas of SDSN Kazakhstan which are Land, Water and Communities; Energy and Climate; and Education and Partnerships. Attendees and presenters alike were given the opportunity to engage with the various speakers on pressing topics related to achieving sustainable goals, reaching "net zero" emissions, and the value of working in conjunction with the proper bodies.
